A note from the founder
I'm building Totonou because I couldn't find it anywhere: somewhere genuinely silent, genuinely clean, built around nothing but the reset.
A friend introduced me to the real thing on a trip to Japan: a proper sauna, cold plunge, and rest cycle, done right. After one session, I was hooked on that feeling, totonou, and wanted it in my weekly routine. Back home, I went looking for it again and hit the same wall every time. Luxury spas turned a quick reset into a full-day, full-price production. Gyms were never clean. And the social spots were loud, built for hanging out and catching up, not for actually reaching that state of relaxation. So I built a steam setup in my own bedroom, just to get the ritual for myself. That's why I started Totonou: a place dedicated to the cycle, genuinely affordable, where you arrive, reset, and leave seamlessly, guaranteed clean and quiet every time.

What is the “totonou” cycle?
A structured, science-backed contrast-therapy method rooted in Japanese recovery culture. You move through intense dry heat (sauna) to spike circulation, immediate cold exposure (plunge) to shock the central nervous system, and a dedicated period of absolute stillness (rest) to drop into a deep, parasympathetic reset.
Where will you be located?
We're actively scouting locations in accessible urban sectors of Montreal, with a heavy focus on Outremont and Mile End. The goal is a facility that integrates easily into your weekly routine.
When are you opening?
We're currently in the market-validation stage, with a public opening targeted for late 2027, we'd rather set an honest expectation than rush a launch. How much will a visit cost?
Accessibility is the core mission. Unlike high-end luxury day spas at $100+ per visit, we're building a model designed for routine use. We haven't finished the real math yet, rent, utilities, staffing, so we'd rather say that plainly than throw out a number we can't guarantee. What we're building toward: something you'd actually use weekly without thinking twice, not a once-a-year splurge. And whatever the final number is, Founding Members lock in the lowest rate we ever offer, guaranteed, for life.
Is this a Kickstarter or GoFundMe?
No. Fifty deposits at $20 each is $1,000, nowhere near what it costs to build a proper sauna and cold-plunge space, so this was never about raising construction money. It's about proving real demand exists before I commit to a lease and take on that cost myself. Your deposit doesn't fund anything: it's fully refundable at any time because its only job is to be counted.
Is my deposit refundable?
Yes, 100%. This is a validation phase. If your plans change, the final location doesn't work for you, or you simply change your mind at any point before opening day, just email us and we'll refund your deposit instantly. No questions asked.
How does the referral guest pass work?
Every founder you bring in before all 50 spots are claimed earns you another free guest pass, so referrals stack: refer three friends, get three passes. Email us both your names at hello@totonou.ca once their deposit is placed and we'll add it to your account. Each pass is good for a companion visit after we open.
